ISK council officials and ISK Secretariat visited the Eldoret Governors County office and the ISK Eldoret branch on 14th August 2014.The team was led by the Chairman Paul Wambua,VEMS chapter Chair Stephen Omengo,Professional and Ethics Chair Dr.Sammy Musyoka,GS Secretary Stephen Ambani,ISK CEO Moses Kiambuthi,LAM representative Ronald Matende,ISK policy research and Advocacy officer Robert Koech and ISK Pr and Communication Officer Elizabeth Mulae.
During the Eldoret Branch visit,the ISK council met the Eldoret ISK elected team,which was lead by the branch Chair David Ngetich.The ISK team paid a courtesy call to the Eldoret county Governors office where they held a closed door meeting with the Eldoret County Secretary, Peter Lelei and the CEC,Land ,Housing and Physical planning Robert Ng’isirei. During the half an hour meeting,several issues affecting members in the region where highlighted.The emerging issues included lifting the ban on subdivision of land and the harrassment of ISK members by the county officers with regard to the payment of single business permit.It was noted that ISK members are professional consultants just like the doctors and lawyers who are exempted.
Later in the day,a seminar was held in the afternoon for the members in the region.Two topics of relevance to the land and property industry were presented to the members to ensure members remain knowledgable in the emerging trends in the industry.The topics focused on real Estate Investment trusts (REITs) presented by the VEMS chapter Chair Stephen Omengo and Geo referencing in line with Land Registration Act 2012 presented by Dr. Sammy Musyoka Chairman for Professional Ethics.
A cocktail for members and potential members was held in the evening which acted as informal forum for sharing ideas and networking.The county Secretary,Peter Lelei graced the members cocktail in the evening offering members an opportunity to air out their issues to the county leaders and ISK officials present.
