ISK pays a courtesy Call to the Central Region Governor;Holds a half day Seminar on Reits and Geo-referencing in line with the Land registration Act 2012

ISK officials  paid a courtesy call on 18th July 2014  to the Central region Nyeri Governor Hon,Nderitu Gachagua.The team lead by the Chairman Paul Wambua were met by the Deputy Governor Ambassor Samuel Wamathai Githaiga and the County executive secretary of Lands Mr John Mwangi Maina.The ISK officials presented a detailed memorandum citing areas of concern in regards to the  property and land sector.

Issues presented included the county management,the corporate real estate management and investment ,Valuation rolls ,approval of development plans,change of user,enforcement of zoning regulations and building by laws.The ISK officials called on the Governor to support trainings to ensure continous professional development for ISK members in the region.The institution sort partnership arrangement between the county in regards to actualizing the Land reforms and the new land laws by  promising to work closely with the county by offering Professional Counsel.

ISK Chairman called on the Governors office to verify with ISK the membership of the surveyors/real estate professionals they deal with to ensure that they are of good professional standing with the institution.The Deputy Governor who received the ISK officials on behalf of the Governor appealed to ISK to deal with quacks mushrooming in the county who purport to be in the industry legally but perform shoddy jobs which in the long term may affect the credibility of the surveying  profession.He assured ISK of the Nyeri’s county support promising to give feedback on items stated on the memorandum.

Later in the afternoon,a half day seminar on Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) presented by Stephen Omengo, the Vems Chapter Chair and Geo-referencing in line with Land Registration Act 2012 presented by Dr. Sammy Musyoka – Chairman Professional Practice and Ethics Committe was also conducted in line with the institutions objective of ensuring professional development and keeping the members abreast with evolving developments in the landed sector.The Institution also hosted a  networking cocktail in the evening  for the ISK members and potential members  in the region.To get more details on the memorandum click the  link below:-
