ISK Launches Kenya Valuation Standards 2021


The institution of surveyors of Kenya launched the Kenya Valuation Standards on 15th July 2021.

The Standards seek to address the challenges bedeviling the Valuation Practice and Valuation Profession in Kenya including Limited Public and Clients Knowledge, Understanding and appreciation of valuation profession, Valuation inaccuracy, and the encroachment into the Valuation Profession by unqualified/ unregistered individuals who masquerade as Valuers which Compromise the Integrity of the Valuation Profession and Practice in the Country.

Other key areas that will be discussed at length include;

  • Addressing the valuation professional standards that set out specific requirements and guidance on practical implementation.
  • Highlighting the practice standards that define the relationship between the Valuer and client in terms of engagement details and purpose of the valuation.
  • Discussing the guidance notes that set out the key issues that need to be taken into account and details on the practical application of the standards in specific contexts.
  • Examining the adoption of International Valuation Standards as standards for undertaking valuation assignments in valuation practice.
