ISK and AMWIK Hold Forum On Women, Land And Property Rights

Presentation covered various aspects that affect women directly including succession which was presented by Ronald Matende, an ISK member and land Administration Expert; Matrimonial Property Laws topic focusing on women rights and obligation to land was presented by Dennis Deus who is a Lawyer and Registered Estate Agent.

In addition, the media women were taken through land and property transactions by Morris Omolo a Licensed & Registered Estate Agent. Wafula Nabutola, a Building Surveyor shared highlights on how women who own land or lease land can derive and maximize value from their land to enhance their livelihoods.

Opening the forum, the AMWIK Executive Director, Hellen Obande said the forum was an eye opener to women and their rights to land. She further noted that the information shared with the association will be distributed to over 5000 women that the organization works with in different grassroots areas.

The fact that media reports on different issues in relation to land issue, ISK took the opportunity to share insights with AMWIK which houses women from different media stations to sensitize them on women rights in relation to land.

The Forum was attended by over twenty women working in the media sector.
